On the road
The images get blurry as we go
I just thought you should know
There’s nothing wrong,
Nothing wrong with your eyes
Look at the skies,
They’re pure and clean and clear
Just look right through
Just see your mind
It’s time to uncross those simple eyes and find that
Acceleration means devastation
Let’s slow this down
Let’s find our way
Turn around and find the path that leads
Beyond the light of day
‘Cause there will be not tomorrow
It there’s no today
We are our own accomplishment just take
One glance at all these errors that we make
It seems like every day
This garment becomes more frayed
And as it does, just a little more of our lives
Seem to slip away
It’s in me; it’s in you and this symphony
Is just out of tune
Time can’t hold
The things that I keep closest to myself
when date books fold
It’s enough
To know I have the access to unchangeable,
indelible love

Seeing Through Your Eyes
I’ve been using your eyes
To help me see all I’ve missed
I’m tired of being unwise
I’m squinting through miles of mist
To find your porch again, my Love
To find the where and when you were thinking of
Love will let me see
And your life has set me free from me
Now I am seeing new shapes
With wild, unseen, vibrant hues
They’re pointing far from death’s wake
They’re leading me straight to you
And now the lights are on in living tones
And now I’m finally free to call this home
Love will let me see
And your life has set me free
And I will not refrain
To say, “Redeemed is my new name”
To help me see all I’ve missed
I’m tired of being unwise
I’m squinting through miles of mist
To find your porch again, my Love
To find the where and when you were thinking of
Love will let me see
And your life has set me free from me
Now I am seeing new shapes
With wild, unseen, vibrant hues
They’re pointing far from death’s wake
They’re leading me straight to you
And now the lights are on in living tones
And now I’m finally free to call this home
Love will let me see
And your life has set me free
And I will not refrain
To say, “Redeemed is my new name”
The Child Stone
I held a child for seven years
I got tired after just thirteen days
But I had an idea of things to come
‘Cause I saw the lights along the way
I saw stones melt like wax before my eyes
And I walked with that kid for four more years
And we fought about every other step
We could not agree on what we saw
‘Till one night when he looked at me and wept
He said, “I was a stone for eleven years.
But I was not a lone.” Then he wiped his tears
And said…
Stones don’t liquefy
Neither do I
Unless there’s some sort of catalyst
And it’s in you
I know it’s truth
I must have a part in this
I was naked then
And you brought me in
You covered me with robes
My life was sand
Sifting through my hands
And you gave me something to hold
Now he wears my shirt and it fits him well
Except the sleeves, they run just past his hands
Will he grow enough to fit? Well only time will tell
I guess ‘till then we’ll keep wond’ring through these lands
SEEING THROUGH YOUR EYES…
I got tired after just thirteen days

SEEING THROUGH YOUR EYES…
Snakeskin
Look what we've gotten ourselves in
It's the quickest kind of quicksand
We're closer to the start than from the end
And we're far from where we began
At the feet...
Every window's just a frame
With shards of glass all around
It's drafty in this house of sin
It's withered and it's falling to the ground
Did you think it best
To accept the thoughts
That the flesh would seek
When the soul was weak
Right now
Look at the mess we've made and shout!
This is a mess we've made without
Anyone or anything to guide us through
Now won't you let me take you to a place
Where love never fails
To beat the ignorance so tightly laced
Under the ring of Sunday bells
Because the song is ringing in my ears
And it's an old familiar tune
It's to the rhythm of the falling tears
That are filling up our tombs
But they're crumbling now
And we're crawling out
And we're brighter now
Than we were before
Right now
Look at the snakeskin, tell me how
We were ever made to live without
The only one, the brightest light to guide us through
And what did you want?
And what did you seek?
And what did you find my friend?
I awoke inside the same skin
And breathed a whole new breath from a whole new source
I found my feet upon some different dirt
And started travelling a different course
It's the quickest kind of quicksand
We're closer to the start than from the end
And we're far from where we began
At the feet...
Every window's just a frame
With shards of glass all around
It's drafty in this house of sin
It's withered and it's falling to the ground
Did you think it best
To accept the thoughts
That the flesh would seek
When the soul was weak
